Howdy! My name is Alex Lop. I’m a travel filmmaker who isn’t afraid to get muddy, drink “Devil’s Piss,” or dive into shark-infested waters – all while I film and photo my way through each and every experience.
Aside from being a huge goof, I’m a travel-focused filmmaker and photographer with one goal in mind: to inspire travel, one minute at a time. I started dabbling in photography and videography when I was 8 – stealing my parents Canon and video cameras to either take photos or create home movies. While traveling to the Caribbean, Latin, and Central America, I began to take photography more serious. Those experiences led to garifuna dancing in Honduras, exploring ruins in Mexico, slurping tonkatsu ramen in Tokyo, and drinking Devil’s Piss in Argentina. There is so much more out there to see, but so little time. In that, I’ve chosen “The Minute Tour” as the context for my sharing my new experiences – fast, furious, and fun. Welcome to my travel video blog.
After coming in as a Finalist to host an international travel show in 2010, I followed my passions and created The Minute Tour to showcase my experiences with travel show-worthy content. My goal with this blog is to showcase my experiences, tips, and life lessons in different destinations around the world through video and photography. I hope to encourage looking at foreign situations from fresh perspectives; to stir curiosity and help my audience jump into unfamiliar (sometimes uncomfortable) situations. Let loose and let live, and just enjoy the ride. Think of this site as the Alex Lop Travel Show.
Travel, Video, and Me
Travel is like an insatiable hunger, and I mean it in the most cliché way. One taste is not enough. Each course leaves you anticipating the next. It’s an endless buffet (did I mention I’m a #foodie?). You’re left wanting destination after destination, encounter after encounter. To me, travel is a way to diversify perspective and a means to grow as an individual. It’s also a means of meeting people, exploring destinations, seeing attractions, and experiencing culture.
Travel scars in the best way. Each slash is mark upon your memory offering new perceptions on life, with each adventure waiting to be shared. The Minute Tour is all about taking a fleeting moment to spark the inspiration to travel, one minute at a time.
