What is to be “fit for a queen?” To me, it’s to find oneself in opulence. Exclusivity. Elegance. Tradition. In their purest forms, these are qualities we are drawn to – that we admire from afar but never really get to experience as, say, a queen would. There couldn’t be a better time to celebrate these qualities than on Queen Elizabeth the Second’s Diamond Jubilee. These are places I’ve visited that remind me of these qualities, but they are also stark reminders that while they are nice to look at and experience while on vacation, they are a daily reality to one in every million.
